| A
psychotherapist since 1995, Robin Truitt is licensed in Washington,
DC (LICSW) and in Maryland (LCSW-C). As
a private practitioner, he works with adults and adolescents.
Robin provides marriage and family counseling, as well as
psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups. Many clients
seek to improve relationships, deal with depression, anxiety,
trauma, work performance, and manage life transitions.
Robin
draws on expertise gained from his practice, formal education,
and a variety of life experiences to help heal his patients.
Trained in Family Systems Theory, he considers the relationship
between the individual and collective family experience in
therapy. Robin's work spans diverse cultures and settings.
He spent four years as a therapist in adolescent shelters,
and two years as a social worker in a public school, hospital
and family and child services center. Before realizing therapy
was his calling, Robin was a fitness specialist and Wellness
Center Director for the YMCA.
Robin
earned his BS from Guilford College and his MSW from New Mexico
State University; his post-graduate work includes a two year
training program in group psychotherapy, and a three year
Advanced Psychotherapy Training Program at the Washington
School of Psychiatry and ongoing participation in supervision.
With
a keen interest in his advancing field, Robin attends many
conferences and seminars and belongs to the American Academy
of Psychotherapists, the Greater Washington Society of Clinical
Social Work, the National Association of Social Workers and
the DC chapter of the NASW.
